Easter mayhem
Growing up I LOVED Easter. It's a tradition that my Easter basket was always hidden and you had to search for it. I vividly remember Mom, I mean, the EASTER BUNNY, hiding my basket in the microwave one year. It was a big ol' microwave that you had to press in the dial to turn the analog nunbers - ancient. I found my Easter basket in record time that year, much to my mother's chagrin (incidentally, chagrin is my favorite word in the English language).
However, then there was the year when my basket was hidden in the AIR INTAKE VENT in the upstairs hallway. My gram and granddad were in town and I had to hunt for my basket - now, this was in high school. I searched for HOURS for that damn basket filled with Peeps. Those sugary bits of melty Heaven had me upset and in tears as a teenager that year. I had finally worn my mother down and had gotten the hints that it was NOT outside, it was NOT in the garage, and it was NOT downstairs. How I finally GOT A SCREWDRIVER AND UNSCREWED THE AIR INTAKE VENT in the upstairs hallway is beyond me, but I DID. Damn if that basket wasn't there. Frick.
There is also a "perfect" Easter basket in my household. This basket cannot be too big and has to have a LOW handle or it is too easy to find. When I bought the girls' baskets, I wanted handles that could collapse so as to make it easier to hide when the girls are older. Now if that's not evil, I don't know what is. My basket cannot be bigger than 8x5, if that and has a very low handle. It was always easy to hide, again, much to MY chagrin.
To this day, the Easter Bunny visits my parents house and I have to search for my basket. I'm 28 years old, am married with two kids, and I still get a basket. I seriously love the Easter Bunny - and for good measure, I love Santa, too. A lot.
This year was the first where Scarlett really "got" what was going on and she was so damn cute. Here is the link to her hunting eggs.

This was Saturday.
Sunday morning we didn't even MENTION the Easter Bunny until we went to Grammy and Granddad's to hunt a basket about 10:30. She found her basket and Susannah's in no time and had a great time finding the eggs they had hidden.
THEN it was back to our house because, TA DA!, the Easter Bunny had miraculously come while the girls and I were out. Funny how that worked out, huh? Then we hunted the 59 eggs in the back yard and found two baskets.
THEN it was off to my Grandma's house for lunch and MORE hunting eggs. This girl has eagle eyes and will be looking for eggs in her sleep from now on, I'm sure.
It was a long two days that ended in a proper meltdown.
