My mother hadn't had a hot meal for herself in 15 years
This is possibly one of my favorite quotes. It's from the movie "A Christmas Story" when the Parker family is sitting down to eat meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Ralphie's internal voice explains that his mother hadn't had a hot meal for herself in fifteen years - the "Old Man" asks for more, Ralphie asks for more, and poor Randy is about to shove his face in a plate of mashed potatoes to show "how the little piggies eat."
I feel like this a lot lately.
I'd like a hot meal.
We went to Blackeyed Pea tonight. We only go out to eat where kids eat free now since Scarlett needs to have her own meal, too, although she doesn't eat. Hence, the kids eat free. If I'm going to waste food, it may as well be free.
As soon as our food arrived, Scarlet melted down and never came back to earth. Susannah also decided to cry and let me know it was time to eat. FOR THE LOVE OF CHEESE- you have GOT to be kidding me.
I was so embarrassed that I had two upset kids. I took my turn with Scarlett out in the van (or "MOO" as she calls it), brought her back in calm but as soon as she saw the table she started crying again so Steve brought her back out to cry some more. I tried to eat a little while consoling Susannah. A lady near me took pity and asked if I would like her to hold Susannah so I could finish eating - as she had a young daughter once who threw a fit in the dinner store, too. I politely thanked her - and thought in my head, "lady, I don't know you from Eve. You're crazy to think that I'm going to let you hold my newborn even if it's 15 inches away from me."
I paid the bill, packed up half of my food, all of Scarlett's food, stuffed Susannah back into the infant carrier and headed out to MOO.
I ate my cold dinner an hour later after driving home and nursing Susannah. My fries were soggy. I ate them anyway. All of them.
How can things as cute as this cause such a cold meal?

Oh, that sucks Jenni! (((Hugs)))
It will get better...when they're able to pour their own milk..and get seconds for themselves. So really you only have about 5 more years until your next hot meal. ;-)
LOL Mel.
Hugs Jenni.
